District 5 Starts Responding
|
Feb 1 - Bexar County District 5 Fire and Rescue began responding February 1, 2007. Until we get our First Responder Certification, we will be responding to non-medical calls only. Many thanks to Lytle, Jarret and Somerset for covering the area while we got off the ground and for their continued assistance with medical calls. District 5 expects to be First Responder certified by the end of February.

ESD 5 Apppoints Two Assistant Chiefs

Dec 20 - Bexar County ESD 5 has appointed two assistant chiefs to the newly formed District 5 Fire & Rescue. Mike Nolan was appointed Asst. Chief of Operations and Herschel Postert was appointed Asst. Chief of Administration. The two have been charged with getting District 5 Fire & Rescue operational within three months.

District 5 Fire & Rescue Created

Dec 1 - Bexar County ESD 5 has created Bexar County Emergency Services District #5 Fire & Rescue, otherwise known as District 5 Fire & Rescue. This new all volunteer department will serve the communities of Atascosa, Macdona and Southwest. It joins Lylte, Somerset and Jarret within Becar County ESD #5. Applications are being accepted for firefighters and medics. Experienced veterans and rookies are welcome, as are community members who wish to contribute but not respond to calls. Community members can contribute to the administration of the department, maintenance, public relations, fundraising and grant writing and many other activities.
